Self Reflection

So my blog is about the negative affects of video games and my contention was that violent video games affect adolescents behaviour. My arguments were about how the nature of games can effect the player and how games can educate players about the wrong sort of values. As well as how playing games in moderation can effect schooling and that they influence aggressive behaviour. The audience I'm trying to target are families especially those with children who play video games in moderation so they are aware about what video games can do to their children and that they should watch the ratings of the games their children are playing. So I focused on these arguments because I thought they'd be relevant to what I'm trying to persuade. I chose specific images related to each of my arguments and I added a video to add in something other than text that would fit in with my topic. With the images there are 2 that have younger kids displaying violent behaviour, 1 image of a failed test score, an image of a game where a woman is in a headlock and an image to just aid me with what game perspectives I was discussing. I used a fair bit of statistics and evidence to back up each of my arguments and I was constantly referring back to the adolescents who would partake in these violent video games. Overall I think I did ok, I don't believe I did great as this is far out of my comfort zone but next time I'd maybe try go on the positive side of my argument arguing that video games don't influence bad behaviour. I'm happy with the images I found, I believe they fit well and next time maybe I would work a little more on my language techniques and more persuasive techniques. I found that the process was definitely easy to follow once you got the hang of what you were doing it, was just getting the right information and using the right language and persuasive techniques was the hard part.
